Tao ZHA, Distinguished Visiting Professor, Elected as a Fellow of the Econometric Society

Professor Tao ZHA, a Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Department of Economics at the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM), was among the group of new Fellows of the Econometric Society elected in 2017. In his illustrious career, Professor Zha has made fundamental and original contributions to the fields of Macroeconomics, Financial Economics, Chinese Economy, and Econometrics.

Founded in 1930, the Econometric Society is the most prestigious academic association in economics, aiming to promote the use of quantitative methods in economic theory. The Society’s flagship academic journal, Econometrica, in which Professor Zha’s work has appeared, is one of the leading outlets in the disciple. Professor Zha has also published many other articles in top journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy and the Review of Economic Studies.

Besides his affiliation with Tsinghua SEM, Professor Tao Zha is currently the Excutive Director of the Center for Quantitative Economic Research at Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Economics at Emory University and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Econometrics. At Tsinghua SEM, Professor Zha teaches a Ph.D. level course entitled Applied Macroeconomics I.

Election as a Fellow of the Econometric Society is a widely recognized and exclusive honor. Tsinghua SEM’s first full-time faculty member to join the ranks of Econometric Society Fellows was Dean Yingyi QIAN of the Department of Economics, who was elected in 2012.
