More than 60 excellent students majoring in economics from universities across the country have gathered together at Tsinghua SEM,Beijingas the 2007 Summer Camp for Students in Economics formally kicked off onAugust 26.The opening ceremony was held atShundeBuildingin the evening. Professor Bai Chong-en, Chair of the Department of Economics presided over the session.

The summer camp aims to provide students from across the country with opportunities to meet with professors here, and help them understand more about the research in economics at Tsinghua; additionally, the School anticipates selecting excellent students in the summer camp to pursue further study at Tsinghua, according to Professor Bai Chong-en, who delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM addressed the session. Faculty members from Department of Economics including Li Zinai, Wu Dong, Zhong Xiaohan, Zhang Hong and Cao Jing, etc. attended the opening ceremony.

The 2007 summer camp participants were selected out from junior students in various universities acrossChina. The outstanding students in the summer camp have the opportunity to pursue graduate study at Tsinghua SEM free from entrance exam.
