Tsinghua SEM Delegation Visits Top US Business Schools and Economics Departments

Recently, Tsinghua SEM delegation consisting of Dean Professor He Jiankun, Former Dean Professor Zhao Chunjian, and Executive Associate Dean Chen Guoqing visited several top US business schools and economics departments in MIT, Harvard University, New York University, University of Chicago and Standford University. The delegation exchanged views and visions with these sister schools concerning issues ranging from teaching methodology, faculty construction, student development to relationship between teaching and research. The relevant parties also reviewed the existing cooperative programs and discussed possible future cooperation opportunities, especially specific arrangements for faculty and student exchange.

Meanwhile, Tsinghua SEM delegation also paid visits to four Tsinghua SEM advisory board members, including Prof. Richard L. Schmalensee, Dean of MIT Sloan School of Management, Mr. Edward C. Johnson 3rd, Chairman and CEO of Fidelity Investments, Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs, Chairman of Qualcomm, as well as Prof. Donald John Roberts, Senior Associate Dean of Stanford Business School.

Tsinghua SEM delegation lead by Prof. He also attended several activities organized by local Tsinghua alumni associations and introduced the recent development of Tsinghua University and its management school. The visit and activities received warm welcome and positive feedback from alumni all across the US. The delegation emphasized again and again in a series of alumni events that alumni contribution is very precious resources for Tsinghua SEM and serves as one of the most impelling driving forces for the school’s development. Tsinghua SEM sincerely hoped the school could on one hand better its communication with its alumni and on the other hand, alumni could provide more genuine advices and financial support to the school.

In order to strengthen ties with US corporations, the delegation also paid visits to New York Stock Exchange and Google.
