Good evening to you all!

I am TENG Leyan from EMBA18-D class in School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, and currently works as the co-founder and COO of R&G PharmaStudies Co., Ltd. Today, it is my honor to share my gains during my EMBA study with you all.

I grew up on Tsinghua campus. Since I was a child, I have been hearing the anecdotes about Tsinghua people around me, while witnessing the responsibility and assiduity of the older generations of Tsinghua people. Later I went abroad for further study and obtained a Ph.D. degree at the School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and returned to China to start a business in 2009. Deep in my heart, Tsinghua possess the unique charm that other top universities can't have. I always dream of returning to Tsinghua campus as a student. In 2018, I did not hesitate to apply for the EMBA program at Tsinghua SEM.

The pharmaceutical industry where I work is changing with each passing day, therefore besides years of accumulation, one always needs to continue to learn. Since its establishment, my company has developed from a team of around a dozen members to a group scale, and has expanded overseas. I am mainly responsible for the comprehensive management. However, with the complication of the company’s organization, the decision-making methods and ideas in the past are no longer effective. At this time, I met the ceiling of my career.

The two years of EMBA study went well along with the complete curriculum system, comprehensive content as well as insightful and inspiring teachers. In the process of learning, I had deep thought about ideas for the company's innovative development, reorganized its strengths and weaknesses, constructed the development strategy for the next three years, deployed the strategy implementation system and upgraded its organizational structure and management strategy. During the past year, the company's competitiveness and financial indicators have significantly improved. If managers try to take advantage in trial and error instead of following the rules in the early stage of start-up, later they will be needing more guidance from scientific and systematic theories. Only by constantly learning, changing and reconstructing management thinking can managers embrace opportunities and achieve career breakthroughs.

I am glad that I chose Tsinghua EMBA, and I am grateful for the growth brought by my two-year study here. Tsinghua has influenced and changed our life, and we will always be grateful for the training of our alma mater. In the past few months, with my active promotion, the company has actively participated in the research and development projects related to drugs and vaccines for COVID-19, as well as donated 2 million yuan to China Zhongguancun Precision Medicine Science and Technology Foundation. We will further cooperate with the foundation to contribute to a healthy China and take on more social responsibilities.

My EMBA peers form the most unforgettable memories during my study here. Two years of learning together makes a lifelong friendship, while embracing differences and growing together. I believe that in the future, we will continue to exchange and integrate and share our success with each other. I hope that after the epidemic ends, we can reunite on our beautiful Tsinghua campus again.

Finally, once again, I would like to thank School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, for its precious cultivation. Thanks to my dear teachers and sincere congratulations to all my peers for graduation!
