◢ Introduction

Established in 2016, the Institute for Internet Industry, Tsinghua University is a university-level scientific research institution, which will be based on the School of Economics and Management and is jointly built with the School of Civil Engineering and School of Public Policy and Management. The institute integrates excellent scientific research strength from various disciplines in Tsinghua University and experts and scholars from all walks of life, committed to the research work in data elements, digital development, industrial transformation, etc. It is one of the first university-level scientific research institutions incorporated in the Institute for National Governance and Global Governance, Tsinghua University, a key construction think tank.

The institute aims to study the industrial innovation, industrial interdisciplinary cooperation, and industrial transformation in the digital economy era, to serve the development of China’s digital economy, and to promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries to digital industries. The development goal of the institute is to become an internationally influential industrial innovation research institution and an important think tank for national and local governments, industries, and enterprises.

The main research work and business orientation of the institute mainly include the following three aspects:

First, the national level: As one of the key think tank institutions in Tsinghua University, it undertakes high-end think tank projects and provides policy advice for the country;

Second, the level of regional industrial planning and regional economic development: It studies and gradually improves the theoretical system of regional economic development, formulates industrial maps for local governments, and carries out regional industrial planning, to promote the regional economic development;

Third, the enterprise level: It develops the development strategy of digital transformation for enterprises, and enhances the value creation ability of enterprises aiming at future technological progress.
