Professor CHEN Jian selected for Elsevier 2023 list of 'Highly Cited Chinese Researchers'

Elsevier released its 2023 list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" on March 27, 2024. Professor CHEN Jian from Department of Management Science and Engineering was selected in the Management Sciences and Engineering category. 

Eight other professors from the School of Economics and Management of (Tsinghua SEM) were also among the top researchers it selected. BAI Chong-En, a Distinguished Professor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Tsinghua University, was selected in the Applied Economics category; Associate Professor CAO Jing from the Department of Economics in the Public Management category; Professor CHEN Jin from the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy in the Management Science and Engineering category; Professor CHEN Yubo from the Department of Marketing, Professor LI Ning from the Department of Leadership and Organization Management, and Associate Professor LI Xibao from the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategy in the Business Administration category; and QIAN Yingyi, a Distinguished Professor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Tsinghua University, and Professor SU Liangjun from the Department of Economics, were selected in the Theoretical Economics category.

Elsevier's list is based on a statistical analysis of Scopus, a leading global database of citations and indices. It uses a methodology developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy to fully analyze and identify Chinese scholars at different stages of their scientific research from multiple dimensions and systematically display their research achievements. This method has attracted attention from domestic and foreign media and scholars.


The 2023 list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" was the tenth update to the list since 2015, when Elsevier and Scopus first collaborated. There are a total of 5,801 researchers on this list, from 496 universities, enterprises, and research institutions, and covering 84 first-level disciplines in the 10 categories of the Ministry of Education.
